China's powder metallurgy industry has experienced nearly 10 years of rapid development, but there are still several gaps compared with its foreign counterparts: (1) There are many enterprises, but they are small in scale, and the economic benefits are significantly different from those of foreign enterprises. (2) Product overlap, enterprises undercutting each other, resulting in extremely fierce competition. (3) Most enterprises lack technical support, their R&D capabilities are backward, product grades are low, and they are difficult to compete with foreign companies. (4) Lack of and difficulties with reinvestment. (5) Backward processes, equipment, and supporting facilities. (6) Few product exports and poor trade channels. After China's accession to the WTO, the above-mentioned shortcomings and weaknesses will be improved. This is because after joining the WTO, the market will gradually become internationalized, and the powder metallurgy market will have further opportunities for expansion; at the same time, with the influx of foreign capital and technology, the technical level of powder metallurgy and related technologies will inevitably be improved and developed.

According to data from the "2013-2017 China Powder Metallurgy Manufacturing Industry Production, Sales, Demand Forecast and Transformation and Upgrade Analysis Report," the total output value of China's powder metallurgy parts and oil-impregnated bearings currently exceeds 5.5 billion yuan, accounting for a relatively small share of the global market, and the development space is also quite broad. According to statistics from the China Powder Metallurgy Association on 53 enterprises, in 2010, China's powder metallurgy parts industry achieved main business income of 4.841 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 39.75%; the total profit was 376 million yuan, double that of the previous year. In terms of output value, the powder metallurgy parts industry achieved a total industrial output value of 5.057 billion yuan, of which the output value of new products was 628 million yuan, and the new product rate (output value of new products/total industrial output value) was 12.37%; the industrial sales output value was 4.973 billion yuan, of which the export delivery value was 628 million yuan, and the export rate (export delivery value/industrial sales output value) was 16.62%. In terms of production and sales scale, according to statistics from the China Powder Metallurgy Association on 53 enterprises, in 2010, China's powder metallurgy parts industry achieved an output of 163,600 tons, a year-on-year increase of 39.40%; sales volume was 161,700 tons, a year-on-year increase of 43.15%. By continuously introducing advanced foreign technologies and combining them with independent innovation and development, China's powder metallurgy industry and technology have shown a rapid development trend, and it is one of the fastest-growing industries in China's general machinery parts industry, with the annual output value of the national powder metallurgy industry increasing at a rate of 35%.

Global manufacturing is accelerating its shift to China. The rapid development of the automotive industry, machinery manufacturing, metal industry, aerospace, instrumentation, hardware tools, engineering machinery, electronics and home appliances, and high-tech industries has brought unprecedented development opportunities and huge market space for the powder metallurgy industry. In addition, the powder metallurgy industry has been included by China in priority development and encouraged foreign investment projects, with broad development prospects.
